Unreasonable Increase In Price

I wonder why the prices go up every year. Various reasons were given by the wholesalers. Do consumers have no right to speak?

Where are the authorities who have the special right to monitor the price of the goods? Do they just eat, sleep or earner wages blindly? Is it possible that it's because they are having big salaries, so they do not regard the current situation as important and are not aware of it or just don't just plain care? Milk prices rose sharply. Longan prices rose at the festival booths. Price balloon up. Everything! Does no one monitor?

It should rain every night, because it is no thanks to those who sell it. There is a reason behind the rain. Each year the prices go up. How then? Do not do the monitoring? I even had to quarrel with the delivery people why is the price going up. They say it is because the wholesalers. The question here is, the same product, same syllabus, but prices go up? Are we people could only just sit silent?

Where are the authorities? Are there people just waiting for people to go berserk, then you want to wake up? Is that something you want? We want our BRUNEI to remain in peace and harmony. If the pressure is on the people because of the unreasonable price increase, it will interfere with people's emotions. So we must be careful and act before it is too late.

Simple answer: Because we import everything!

Expect the worse, lapas anie makin naik lagi harga barang. Sebab apa? Di Malaysia harga minyak and gula naik. Kebanyakkan makanan import dari Malaysia. Unless Brunei sanggup bagi subsidi or produce makanan sendiri, nothing much we can do....smilies/grin.gif

What are you on about?
written by Bruneian , July 27, 2010
I dont think the "authorities" are responsible for the price increase in goods. Inflation plays a significant role. This is a natural occurrence in any economy. What would you like the "authorities" to do to make you remain in peace and harmony?

Don't we have a consumer protection unit?
written by Lionese , July 28, 2010
I agree to the prices hiking up every year. Sometimes the dealer hike up their prices on their own will. Even across the same department stores in different suburbs tend to vary alot. Isn't there a consumer protection unit/department who's job is to monitor if products are sold at a ridiculous price?

You need to seriously start watching the international news more often and not the E! news I'm talking about the CNN or BBC. You will then realise that the prices are going up not just in Brunei but globally. So it's up to us to manage our finances more carefully.

Agreed there is nothing we can do, Brunei industries at the moment is very weak, we barely produce anything cept mineral water. Our own rice still haven't fully matured to compete with the beras wangi. Unless we can be like Singapore, where the Food & Drinks industry is very strong with 5,200 companies and factories employing 3% of the population, we can't really have any control...

I guess that to get the personal loans from creditors you should have a great reason. However, one time I have got a commercial loan, because I wanted to buy a building.
